Frequently Asked Questions

I SUBMITTED AN AD CHANGE REQUEST BY EMAIL BUT IT HAS NOT BEEN MADE.

All changes to your ad copy & photos should be made by you through your Personal Account Information Page. You may edit all of the information & Photo's about your vehicle listed for sale with RVclassified by going to the Main Menu at RVclassified.com and in the left column enter your User Name and Password in the Account Manager Section and click the Login button, this will take you to your Personal Account Information Page.

TO EDIT YOUR AD or PHOTO'S

Go to the far right side of the Personal Account Information page and in the Action column click the Edit link. Make all necessary changes to your Ad & Photos and go to the bottom of the Ad Placement page and click the Update Ad button. For more detailed information about how to edit your ad click here Editing your Ad

I CAN'T ACCESS MY AD TO MAKE CHANGES OR DELETE IT.

This is most likely caused by ...NOT... entering your name and/or password EXACTLY as you did when placing your ad. example: John Smith is not the same as John B Smith or even John B. Smith. If you used a period following a middle initial when placing your ad, you must use it again when attempting to regain access to your ad. If you have forgotten or misplaced your password click here for assistance.

HOW LONG WILL MY AD BE PUBLISHED FOR?

You may advertise your vehicle for sale at this web site until it is sold. Ads are automatically deleted after 90 days UNLESS, ...YOU change the expiration date in the ad submit form prior to that time, SEE Item # 1 above for information on how to Change/Edit your Ad. Ads may be extended (at no charge) for an additional 90 days from the date you are actually making the change. You may change and extend your Ad expiration date as often as necessary.

OR

You may renew your ad back to the top of the FOR SALE LISTINGS and automatically extend your ads expiration date by 90 days by logging into your Accounts Manager Page at the Main Menu of RVclassified and clicking the RENEW link at the far right of the page in the ACTION COLUMN and paying the appropriate renewal fee.

Please note: This service automatically places your ad back at the top of the For Sale Listings and in the case of a Featured Ad will continue to hold it at or near the top of the For Sale Listings for an additional 15 days. Your photo will again appear at the top of the For Sale Listings page. It does not place your ads photo back on the Main Menu of the RVclassified site.

WHY DO YOU AUTOMATICALLY DELETE ADS AFTER 90 DAYS?

Unfortunately many advertisers fail to delete their ads after their vehicle/vessel has been sold or when it becomes unavailable for any other reason. Therefore requiring advertisers to update their ads expiration date indicates their desire to keep an ad posted and helps insure that all ads listed are current and available.

I'M HAVING A PROBLEM SEARCHING THE DATABASE.

DO THESE ADS REALLY WORK?

Everyday we receive input requests from advertisers to delete ads from our classified listings because the vehicle has been sold. At this time ( September 1997) we receive in excess of 2 1/2 million search download requests each month and this count continues to grow monthly. Whether your vehicle sells or not depends on many factors, the year and condition of your vehicle, your asking price, did you supply a photo(s), the season (example, boats sell faster in the spring & summer but move/sell slower during the fall and winter) and certainly there is the element of luck (does the right buyer - see the right ad - at the right time). I AM INTERESTED IN BUYING OR SELLING AN RV, CAN YOU TELL ME THE APPROXIMATE VALUE OF A SPECIFIC MAKE OR MODEL?

This is a question we hear frequently and unfortunately can offer little assistance with. It would be unfair to both buyer and seller for us to offer our opinion of a particular vehicle / vessels value, sight unseen. We would certainly recommend that before you make a significant, long term investment in an expensive purchase such as many recreational vehicles require, if you do not feel competent to make a self judgment you retain the services of a qualified consultant. You may also wish to consult the N.A.D.A. Recreation Vehicle Appraisal Guide or the Kelly Blue Book RV Guide. These publications may be found in select libraries or are available from the publishers.

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP SELL MY VEHICLE?

All of the obvious things such as a dealer would do. CLEAN IT, Clean It, clean it. Present your vehicle in the best possible condition. Keep it washed and polished, have the engine compartment chemically or steam cleaned. If possible, publicly display your vehicle with FOR SALE signs prominently displayed. Put your asking price on the for sale signs. Many times potential buyers will see a vehicle and assume it will cost them more than they are willing, or able to pay, and that may NOT be the case. If your asking more than they can afford, all you have done by putting your asking price on your signs, is saved your time and theirs, but you may find a buyer you might otherwise have missed had you not posted your asking price. Place a photo with your ad copy at this web site and anywhere else you run an ad, if at all possible. Remember the old axiom, "A picture's worth a thousand words".

If you decide to place ads in other media in addition to this web site refer to the fact that readers can find additional information and see photo's at www.rvclassified.com. You no doubt are aware that classified advertising in any major newspaper is charged for by the word, and has become quite expensive. You can limit your cost by placing a very short ad, or enhance the power of a more traditionally worded ad by virtue of photo availability and additional details. As an example
